While it might be convenient to keep kids preoccupied with online activities, providing them with easy to do activities that are screen-free may give them that much needed respite from the screen. We particularly like these 15 creative activities from Teaching Packs as they do not require any special materials, allow kids to work with family members and most of all because they help encourage gratitude.

- Write thank you notes to people who help you. Leave the notes where they might be discovered.
- Help with some household chores.
- Learn a new language.
- Make a poster that shows all of the people and things that make you smile.
- Crack some jokes and perform a comedy routine for your family.
- Help prepare the family breakfast, lunch or dinner. Now is a good time as any to try your hand at baking or cooking.
- Play the game Charades with family members.
- Find out how you know each other well. Create a quiz about each others’ favorite things.
- Record your own version on how to wash hands properly.
- Try the alphabet game. Choose a few categories (for example, movies, food, animals) and go through the letters of the alphabet. Players take turn giving examples that begin with the letters of the alphabet.
- Play the Yes/No game. Take turns asking questions while avoiding answering with a Yes or No. Get creative with answers!
- Have fun and play “Would you rather?” Give each player a choice of two options (for example, “Would you rather eat Japanese or Italian food?”. The players have to choose one option and explain why they did so.
